Peter mbah's water project gone into extinction?
Personally, I felt happy when Dr. Peter mbah of Enugu state announced immediately after his swearing in as the governor of Enugu state that his administration would provide water to every household in Enugu state metropolis after 180 days of being in office. Almost all Enugu people jubilated over the announcement owing to the fact that the issue of water scarcity has been a perennial one in the state. This scarcity, has over the time made any politician aspiring to govern the state seemed to have upper hand if this promise is used.
However, it is worthy to note that peter mbah is not the first to make efforts towards ending this painful water scarcity in the state. In 2021, the governor of the state then, Chief ifeanyi Ugwuanyi received 25million dollars as Grant from the French government to tackle the said water problem. Whether he invested it in the project or not, no one knows.
As Dr. Peter mbah took over, all of people were happy as he seemed to make the water project one of his priorities and as such, was a good way to start.
So far to the knowledge of most Enugu people, 100 million dollars have been used to award contract on the same water project by peter mbah led administration. In addition, he took another swift action by handling the water corporation of the state over to an Australian man who is now directly in charge of water project in the state.
Prior to that, Enugu state people witnessed a situation where different pipes were laid in some places within the metropolis and were happy and hoping that such pipe could be connected to some popular rivers within the metropolis and establishing a water plant which can ensure the reticulation of water within the areas but it has not happened.
People expected that the administration of Peter mbah can visit Enugu north and establish a water plant at Adada river or oshi lake located at Opi Agu and lay pipes connecting to different areas within the zone thereby ensuring the reticulation of water.
If these have been done, even if peter mba couldn't achieve anything else, believe me that nobody will condemn him for that.
Since all these methods of tackling the water problem in the state have not been followed by Peter mbah, what hope is left for Enugu people as the plans and energy with which he promised water to Enugu people in 180 days seems to have diminished?
From the look of things, the water scarcity in Enugu state continues to be a perennial one .
